Social Media & Community Intern
Organization: Pamplemousse Magazine / Pamplemousse Projects
Location: US-BASED Remote / Virtual (Across EST-PST) / OR SF Bay Area (in person w/ Founder)
Compensation: Unpaid, COLLEGE Credit available.
Time Commitment: flexible, but must be able to create content and post (pre-schedule) on average 3 posts per week on Instagram (feed or reel), and actively manage the account. You will also be expected to join our weekly editorial team meetings.
About the Role
Pamplemousse Magazine is a print-focused publication dedicated to the art, process, and community of film photography. Under the umbrella of the Pamplemousse Projects* non-profit, we are looking for a Social Media & Community Intern who is passionate about both photography and editorial storytelling.
You won't just be scheduling posts—you will be an active digital voice for the magazine. We are a small, highly collaborative team where things move fast. We need someone who can build on concepts, experiment with new ways to showcase print media online, and maintain the prestige of our publication while supporting our grassroots fundraising efforts. You will primarily create content for and manage our instagram account, as well as help with digital features (website and newsletter) in collaboration with our editorial team.
The Ideal Candidate
Analog Knowledge: You have a baseline understanding of film photography. You know the difference between standard formats (35mm vs. medium format) and understand the inherent value of an analog practice.
Platform Expertise: You deeply understand Instagram, particularly the nuances of Reels and Stories. We are open to EXPLORING other platforms.
Trend Awareness with Editorial Mindset: You are plugged into current social trends but know how to be creative within the specific brand voice, tone, and prestige of an arts non-profit.
Community-Centered: Your focus is on community engagement and donor cultivation—not just follower count. You are enthusiastic about interacting with other photographers, promoting open calls, and rallying digital support for fundraising initiatives.
Self-Starter: Things move fast in the editorial world. We are seeking a candidate that will become a key part of our small team. You have a flexible mindset, a collaborative spirit, and are open to feedback. You aren't afraid to ask questions or pitch out-of-the-box ideas.

College Credit: We will work with your BFA/MFA program to ensure you receive academic credit.
A Tangible Portfolio: You won't just be doing background tasks. You will walk away with a completed, start-to-finish project in arts marketing.
Networking & Mentorship: We believe in community and supporting artists. You will have regular meetings with our editorial team and receive one-on-one guidance & MENTORSHIP.
DEPENDING ON LOCATION, WE PROVIDE ACCESS AND WELCOME OUR TEAM TO ATTEND BOOK FAIRS AND PHOTO FESTIVALS WE ARE ATTENDING. (IN THE PAST THIS HAS INCLUDED PHOTONOLA, FILTER PHOTO FESTIVAL, THE SAN FRANCISCO ART BOOK FAIR, BURNAWAY BOOK//ZINE, ETC.)

Created in 2023 by Nora Lalle, Pamplemousse began as a magazine and quickly expanded into a community and platform committed to highlighting the work of emerging and established photographers. Building upon years of publications and programming, Nora Lalle founded Pamplemousse Projects in 2025 to support and inspire photographers, with a focus on building community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Pamplemousse Projects is a resource for anyone who picks up a camera, and creates opportunities for individuals with artistic or professional ambitions in the field of photography. We will continue to elevate the voices of contemporary photographers and provide platforms for them to share their work.
